Higher Levels of a Key Enzyme in Fat Tissue May Protect Obese Mice from Metabolic Problems Through Tiny Messenger Particles

Updated

Abstract

Mice with adipocyte NAMPT overexpression were protected from diet-induced metabolic dysfunction.

  • Diminished adipocyte NAD+ and NAMPT are linked to metabolic dysfunction.
  • Overexpression of NAMPT in adipocytes reduced adipose tissue inflammation.
  • Glucose intolerance was prevented in mice with adipocyte NAMPT overexpression.
  • Extracellular vesicles from these mice enhanced glucose tolerance in obese mice.
  • Significant alterations in lipid and metabolite contents were observed in extracellular vesicles from ANOV mice compared to wild-type mice.
