1. Acceptance of Terms

OpenScience.ink (“OpenScience”, the “Service”) is operated by Confetti Labs LLC (“Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What the Service Does

The Service helps people discover, read, and understand scientific research. It may include paper pages, newsletters, summaries, extracted metadata, rankings, and other research-related content. Some content may be generated or assisted by AI and automated processing.

3. Research Quality, AI Limitations, and Source of Truth

We do our best to ensure data quality and to accurately reflect underlying studies. However, the Service may contain errors and AI hallucinations are possible. The original study sources (for example: the paper itself, journal pages, PubMed records, and other primary sources) are the core source of truth.

4. Not Medical Advice

The Service is for informational and educational purposes only and is not medical, clinical, or professional advice. Do not use the Service to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Always seek the advice of qualified professionals for decisions that could affect your health or safety.

5. Accounts and Security

If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your access credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us of any unauthorized use.

6. Cancellation and Refunds

If you subscribe to OpenScience newsletters (for example, one or more topics), you can manage or cancel your subscription by logging in, visiting your account page, and clicking “Manage subscription” to access the Stripe billing portal.

Cancellations take effect immediately. Refunds are prorated for the unused portion of your current billing period.

After cancellation, your account remains active and you may continue using the free version of the Service (including monthly emails). We retain your account data so you can resume or manage your preferences later.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service in a way that violates any law or regulation.
• Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or reverse engineer the Service.
• Scrape, crawl, or harvest data in a way that unreasonably burdens the Service.
• Use the Service to create or distribute harmful, misleading, or deceptive content.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service (including software, design, and our original content) is owned by Confetti Labs LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Scientific papers and third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners and are subject to their terms and licenses.

9. Third-Party Services and Links

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party services. We are not responsible for third-party content, availability, or practices. Your use of third-party services is governed by their terms and policies.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms or if necessary to protect the Service, users, or comply with law.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, accurate, or error-free.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Confetti Labs LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date reflects the effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
