Possible side effects of tirzepatide: a plan for a detailed review and combined analysis

Updated

Abstract

A systematic review is planned to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of tirzepatide in patients at increased risk of cardiovascular events.

  • Tirzepatide is approved for type 2 diabetes and is increasingly used for overweight management.
  • The review will focus on randomized clinical trials comparing tirzepatide to placebo or no intervention.
  • Primary outcomes include all-cause mortality and serious adverse events.
  • Secondary outcomes will assess myocardial infarction, stroke, hospitalizations, and non-serious adverse events.
  • Data synthesis will involve meta-analyses and assessments of risk of bias.
