How Age and Sex Affect Gene Activity Changes from Statin Treatment That Control Liver Aging in Metabolic Problems

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Statin use was linked to liver transcriptomic patterns consistent with lower senescence and higher ferroptosis activity in MASLD.

Evidence

This observational transcriptome analysis used liver samples and clinical data from 368 Duke MASLD Biorepository adults, with propensity matching and validation in an independent obese cohort.

Caveat

Because statin exposure was not randomized, the data show associations rather than proof that statins reverse liver aging or prevent cirrhosis.
