American Ginseng Protein Reduces Movement Problems in Parkinson’s Mice Along with Changes in Gut Bacteria and Metabolism

Updated

Abstract

AGP treatment significantly improved motor function and restored striatal dopamine levels in PD mice.

  • AGP reduced α-synuclein aggregation in the brains of mice with Parkinson's disease.
  • The treatment was associated with suppression of the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB/ERK inflammatory pathway.
  • AGP reshaped the composition of dysregulated gut microbiota.
  • Metabolic disorders in the sphingolipid and arachidonic acid pathways were corrected with AGP treatment.
  • These findings suggest potential involvement of the microbiota-gut-brain axis in the effects of AGP.
