AMPK increases SOCS1 to boost cell cleanup, reduce inflammatory macrophages, and ease acute lung injury

Abstract

Overexpression of SOCS1 reduced the expression of pro-inflammatory factors in an acute lung injury model.

  • SOCS1, TFEB, and p-AMPK expressions decreased in the acute lung injury model.
  • Increased SOCS1 levels inhibited M1 polarization of macrophages induced by LPS.
  • Pro-inflammatory factors IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α were reduced with SOCS1 overexpression.
  • The expression of the anti-inflammatory factor IL-10 increased with SOCS1 overexpression.
  • SOCS1 may activate autophagy by up-regulating TFEB expression, which is associated with reduced M1 polarization.
  • AMPK phosphorylation could enhance SOCS1 expression, promoting nuclear translocation of TFEB.
