Lowering ANGPTL4 improves lupus kidney inflammation in mice by turning off a key immune trigger and reducing inflammation

Updated

Abstract

AAV-sh-ANGPTL4 injection significantly reduced proteinuria, serum creatinine, and blood urea nitrogen levels in MRL/lpr mice.

  • Silencing ANGPTL4 improved kidney damage by reducing glomerular, tubular, and interstitial injury.
  • Decreased protein levels in urine and lower serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen indicate improved kidney function.
  • ANGPTL4 knockdown led to a reduction in pro-inflammatory cytokine production in the kidneys.
  • Suppression of ANGPTL4 inhibited the expression of NLRP3 inflammasome-associated molecules in renal tissues.
