Sijunzi Tang's anti-skin aging effects and how it works based on network analysis and experiments

Updated

Abstract

SJZT improved UVB-induced skin thickening and increased collagen and elastin fiber structures in a mouse skin-aging model.

  • PPI network analysis identified TP53, CDKN2A, TNF, IL6, and IL1B as core targets related to epidermal stem cell senescence.
  • Molecular docking indicated that glycyrrhizin, ginsenoside Rg5, ginsenoside Rh2, liquiritin, polyporenic acid C, and atractylenolide II have strong affinity for key proteins in cellular senescence signaling.
  • In-vivo experiments showed that SJZT decreased MDA levels and increased CAT and T-SOD expression in mouse skin tissue.
  • In-vitro studies demonstrated that SJZT reduced reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress, enhanced mitochondrial function, and upregulated stem cell markers.
  • The anti-cellular senescence effect of SJZT on epidermal stem cells was inhibited by the p38 signaling pathway inhibitor adesmapimod.
