Problems with antiviral antibody function are linked to higher sugar modifications on IgG1 in Long COVID

Updated

Abstract

Persistent SARS-CoV-2 antigen is proposed as a key factor in Long COVID.

  • Post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection may be linked to impaired antibody function.
  • Inefficient clearance of infected cells and viral antigen could be due to altered Fc-mediated antiviral activity.
  • Differences in IgG1 Fc fucosylation are examined as a potential regulator of antibody function.
