  • Alterations in astrocytes, such as swollen endfeet and somata shrinkage, may contribute to vascular integrity disruption.
  • Alzheimer's disease astrocytes exhibit proinflammatory profiles and increased secretion of factors that can disrupt endothelial junctions.
  • Clinical and preclinical evidence suggests that astrocyte pathology correlates with blood-brain barrier dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease.
