Australian team sports athletes prefer dietitians, the internet, and nutritionists for sports nutrition information

Abstract

A total of 410 Australian athletes provided insights into their nutrition information sources and preferences.

  • Forty-four percent of athletes previously received dietary advice from a dietitian.
  • Preferred sources of nutrition information included dietitians (20%), the internet (19%), and nutritionists (16%).
  • Athletes showed a strong interest in sports nutrition (35%) and individual consultations (33%).
  • There were no significant associations found between preferred or previous information sources and nutrition knowledge scores.
