Abstract

A specialized variant of autophagy, known as nucleophagy, actively removes PARP1 molecules from DNA during pharmacological inhibition.

  • Autophagy is linked to various mechanisms that allow cancer cells to evade the immune system.
  • Nucleophagy may contribute to cytoprotection by removing PARP1 molecules that are trapped on DNA.
  • The process of nucleophagy could also be associated with immunosuppressive effects in the context of cancer.
