PFA inactivation preserved normal C. elegans feeding and physiology better than heat-inactivated E. coli OP50.

Evidence

This C. elegans methods experiment compared 65 °C heat inactivation for 35 minutes with 0.5% paraformaldehyde inactivation of E. coli OP50 across food avoidance, pumping, fertility, lipid accumulation, UPR activation, and survival.

Caveat

The conclusion is specific to E. coli OP50 and the tested inactivation conditions, with outcomes measured in a worm feeding-study context.
