Abstract

Bazi Bushen (BZBS) capsules significantly improved skin conditions in mice exposed to ultraviolet radiation.

  • BZBS and β-Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) reduced structural and functional damage from UV radiation in mice.
  • Treatment with BZBS promoted hair follicle growth and decreased inflammatory cell infiltration.
  • BZBS increased the expression of NRF2, which may help reduce oxidative stress and signs of aging.
  • Key components of BZBS, verbascoside and epimedin A, bound to KEAP1, preventing the degradation of NRF2.
  • These findings suggest a potential therapeutic approach to skin photoaging through modulation of the KEAP1-NRF2 pathway.
