Aging of body organs linked to risk of chronic diseases in a community group

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Protein-estimated older biological ages of specific organs were linked to higher risks of chronic disease, death, and related organ outcomes.

Evidence

Community-based ARIC cohort analysis estimated 11 organ ages in 11,757 participants and associated organ age gaps and age-based clusters with longitudinal health outcomes.

Caveat

These observational proteomic associations do not prove that older organ-age signatures cause the later diseases or that the model improves clinical decisions.
