Black Bean Peptide May Reduce Lead Damage to Memory Areas in Mice by Controlling Cell Cleanup Processes

Updated

Abstract

BSP significantly increased total antioxidant capacity and restored the activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase.

  • Lead exposure is linked to cognitive impairment through oxidative stress and neuronal damage.
  • Black bean peptide (BSP) may reduce Pb-induced neurotoxicity by enhancing antioxidant defenses.
  • Activation of PINK1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy was observed with increased levels of PINK1, Parkin, and LC3B-II.
  • BSP significantly inhibited neuronal apoptosis, as indicated by changes in the expression of Bax, Caspase-3, and Bcl-2.
  • Molecular docking indicated a moderate binding affinity between BSP and PINK1, suggesting a potential mechanism for neuroprotection.
  • No significant difference in effects was found between BSP and resveratrol in this study.
