Lipid nanoparticles that cross the blood-brain barrier deliver TRIM11 mRNA to break down Tau protein in Alzheimer's models

Updated

Abstract

Essence

A blood-brain-barrier-penetrating lipid nanoparticle carrying TRIM11 mRNA reduced Tau pathology and improved function in Alzheimer's disease mouse models.

Evidence

This was a formulation and preclinical mouse study testing systemic PLNP delivery of TRIM11 mRNA, including hippocampal accumulation, neuronal transfection, Tau markers, neuroinflammation, synaptic integrity, cognition, and nest building in 3xTg-AD mice.

Caveat

The therapeutic evidence comes from Alzheimer's disease mouse models, so human delivery, durability, safety, and clinical benefit remain unproven.
