Abstract

Transcutaneous Auricular Vagus Nerve Stimulation (taVNS) may serve as a promising non-invasive treatment for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD).

  • The gut microbiota is linked to the development of Major Depressive Disorder.
  • Vagus nerve activity is suggested to play a significant role in regulating interactions between the gut and brain.
  • The mechanisms by which taVNS exerts its antidepressant effects on the gut-brain axis are not yet fully understood.
  • This work is part of a registered clinical trial aimed at exploring these interactions.
