How BuNao AnShen Capsules may help treat insomnia based on drug network analysis and lab tests

Updated

Abstract

One hundred effective components in BuNao AnShen Capsules (BNASC) were identified, associated with 184 overlapping targets.

  • BNASC demonstrated significant sedative-hypnotic effects in a mouse model of insomnia, with increased sleep duration compared to a positive control.
  • Treatment with BNASC resulted in increased body weights in the treatment groups compared to the model group (P < 0.05).
  • BNASC improved levels of serotonin, inflammatory factors, and antioxidant activity, while decreasing levels of norepinephrine, dopamine, and oxidative stress markers in the hypothalamus.
  • The analysis indicated that BNASC did not significantly impact GABA levels in both cellular and animal studies.
