Heart and kidney outcomes of combined SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists versus single treatments in type 2 diabetes

Updated

Abstract

The effectiveness of combining sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RA) for type 2 diabetes mellitus remains uncertain.

  • Comparing combined therapy to monotherapy could provide insights into cardiovascular and kidney outcomes.
  • The analysis aims to clarify whether using both SGLT2i and GLP-1RA is more beneficial than using either treatment alone.
  • Current evidence does not definitively establish the superiority of combined therapy over monotherapy.
