CCA, a natural compound from Caesalpinia bonduc, improves memory problems in Alzheimer's mice by reducing brain inflammation and supporting cell cleanup

Updated

Abstract

CCA has demonstrated the ability to ameliorate cognitive impairment and neuronal damage in LPS-induced and APP/PS1 mice.

  • CCA is associated with down-regulation of inflammatory factor mRNA levels in BV2 cells stimulated by lipopolysaccharide.
  • The compound shows good permeability across the blood-brain barrier.
  • Microglial polarization from M1 to M2 is potentially driven by the AMPK/NF-κB pathway, which may reduce tau pathology.
  • Proteomic profiling indicates that CCA upregulates FOXG1 expression in APP/PS1 mice.
  • AMPK has a significant role in regulating autophagy and the inflammatory response.
