CD4 T cells gain Eomesodermin to influence cell aging and aging processes

Updated

Abstract

Essence

CD4 T cells appear to acquire an Eomes-positive state that helps restrain senescent-cell buildup during aging and chronic liver inflammation.

Evidence

Experimental aging and liver-cirrhosis models found that senescent-cell-rich environments induced CD4-Eomes cells, while deleting Eomes in CD4 T cells increased senescent cells, physical decline, shortened lifespan, fibrosis, and disease severity.

Caveat

The abstract does not show whether manipulating CD4-Eomes cells improves human aging or cirrhosis outcomes.
