Gene analysis identifies Cd72 as a new inflammation-related protein in brain immune cells after experimental stroke

Updated

Abstract

Cd72 was significantly upregulated in microglia following ischemic stroke, suggesting its role in neuroinflammation.

  • Microglia can both damage neurons through inflammation and support recovery by clearing debris.
  • Integrative transcriptomic analyses identified Cd72 as a novel pro-inflammatory modulator in ischemic stroke.
  • Selective knockdown of Cd72 reduced infarct volume, neuronal death, and neurological deficits in a mouse model.
  • Increased Cd72 expression in microglia correlated with higher levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6.
  • Reducing Cd72 levels decreased these pro-inflammatory factors, indicating its potential as a therapeutic target.
