CD82/KAI1 may reduce spread and invasion of esophageal squamous cell cancer through TGF-beta1

Updated

Abstract

The expression level of CD82/KAI1 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) was significantly lower than in normal tissues.

  • Lower expression of CD82/KAI1 is associated with higher rates of lymph node and distant metastasis in ESCC patients.
  • Patients with lower CD82/KAI1 expression exhibited shorter overall survival compared to those with higher expression.
  • Overexpression of CD82/KAI1 led to decreased cell proliferation, invasion, and metastasis in ESCC cells.
  • CD82/KAI1 regulates the expression of TGF-β1, Smad2/3, MMP-2, and MMP-9.
  • There is an interaction between CD82/KAI1 and TGF-β1, suggesting a role for CD82/KAI1 in inhibiting the malignant progression of ESCC.
