Activation of a Cellular Defense Pathway Triggers Inflammation and Aging in Immune Cells in Ovarian Endometrioma Caused by Cyst Fluid
Updated
Abstract
Ovarian endometrioma (OE) fluid can cause a decline in ovarian function, associated with inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction.
- OE fluid is linked to an inflammatory response and cellular aging in ovarian tissues.
- Activation of the cGAS/STING signaling pathway may contribute to the negative effects of OE fluid on the ovaries.
- The STING inhibitor H-151 can reduce ovarian dysfunction and inflammation caused by OE fluid.
- H-151 also appears to prevent mitochondrial dysfunction and cellular aging induced by OE fluid.
- These findings suggest potential therapeutic avenues for addressing ovarian dysfunction in the context of endometriosis.
