Irregular daily light cycles affect health but not lifespan in male mice

Updated

Abstract

Mice experienced no significant differences in mortality or lifespan when subjected to a 10% alteration of the daily light-dark cycle.

  • Mice gained weight early in life regardless of the T-cycle length, with significant interactions observed among time and T-cycle.
  • Similar patterns were observed for fat mass and lean mass, indicating that all T-cycle groups experienced weight changes.
  • No significant differences in mean longevity or maximum lifespan were found among the different T-cycle groups.
  • Chronic alterations in the daily light-dark cycle did not impact overall survival compared to controls.
