Using timing of treatment to reduce heart damage from anthracycline chemotherapy

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Timing anthracycline dosing to circadian rhythms may help reduce cardiotoxicity, but the best human window remains provisional.

Evidence

This review summarized 3 in vitro, 12 animal, and 9 clinical studies on chronomodulated anthracycline dosing for cardiotoxicity and oncological efficacy.

Caveat

The proposed 3 to 11 AM human dosing window is hypothesized mainly from animal extrapolation rather than direct clinical proof.
