PEA-15 expression shows significant circadian oscillation within the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN).

  • PEA-15 is highly expressed in specific subpopulations of SCN neurons, particularly in arginine vasopressin-positive neurons.
  • Brief light exposure during the early subjective night significantly increases PEA-15 phosphorylation.
  • Photic stimulation triggers the dissociation of PEA-15 from the ERK protein in the SCN.
  • PEA-15 is associated with the regulation of the core clock gene period1 through ERK/MAPK signaling.
