Link between disrupted sleep patterns and open-angle glaucoma, influenced by melatonin

Updated

Abstract

Circadian rhythm sleep disorders (CRSD) may disrupt neurovascular regulation and are associated with increased risk of open-angle glaucoma.

  • CRSD may be linked to both open-angle glaucoma (OAG) and ocular hypertension (OHT).
  • Primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) may also be more prevalent in individuals with CRSD.
  • Melatonin's potential modifying effect on these associations was examined.
