Daily Biological Clock and Gene Activity Patterns in the Tropical Tree Rubroshorea leprosula

Updated

Abstract

Only 283 of 20,748 expressed genes (~1.3%) in Rubroshorea leprosula exhibited significant circadian oscillations.

  • Circadian rhythms in Rubroshorea leprosula show periods concentrated between 23 and 25 hours.
  • Four temporal clusters were identified, indicating alternate phases of gene expression and functional specialization.
  • All major components of the circadian clock have clear orthologs in Arabidopsis, suggesting evolutionary conservation.
  • The core clock genes in the tropical tree exhibit peak expression timing similar to that of Arabidopsis thaliana.
  • Orthologs in Rubroshorea displayed reduced expression amplitudes and lower variation, hinting at possible reduced circadian robustness.
