Circular RNA Vaccines for Pvs25 Trigger Antibodies That May Block Malaria Transmission

Updated

Abstract

A single immunization with either of the two circular RNA vaccines targeting Pvs25 induced detectable antibodies in mice.

  • Both circular RNA vaccines and a linear mRNA vaccine led to the production of Pvs25-specific antibodies in immunized mice.
  • Booster immunization significantly increased antibody levels and achieved complete inhibition of P. vivax development in mosquitoes.
  • The vaccines elicited strong antibody-secreting cell responses and cytokine-producing cellular responses.
  • Emerging evidence indicates that circular RNA may enhance RNA stability and reduce manufacturing costs compared to traditional mRNA.
