Wheat CONSTANS-like genes linked to flowering time and response to drought

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Several wheat CONSTANS-like genes may help connect heading-date regulation with adaptation.

Evidence

This wheat gene-family study identified 51 TaCOL genes and combined promoter, RNAseq, hydroponic drought, physiological, and qPCR analyses across tissues, developmental stages, and two genotypes.

Caveat

The findings nominate expression-linked drought candidates, but they do not directly prove gene function or field-level improvement in earliness or drought resilience.
