The Core Body Clock Gene PiLUX Helps Plumbago indica Plants Survive Cold

Updated

Abstract

The gene PiLUX is significantly upregulated in the plant Plumbago indica following cold induction.

  • Transcriptomic analysis shows positive correlations between PiLUX transcription levels and cold-tolerance-related physiological indicators.
  • Cold-tolerant physiological indicators include reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging capacity, osmoregulatory substance accumulation, and membrane lipid peroxidation.
  • Heterologous overexpression of PiLUX in Arabidopsis thaliana enhances cold tolerance but delays flowering.
  • Knockdown of PiLUX in P. indica exacerbates oxidative damage under cold stress and reduces recovery ability.
  • PiLUX may participate in the low-temperature response downstream of, or in parallel with, the CBF pathway.
