The corepressor CtBP2 is needed for normal development of the mouse thinking brain

Updated

Abstract

CtBP2 is widely expressed in neural stem and progenitor cells as well as neurons during cortical development in mice.

  • CtBP2 is a transcriptional co-repressor involved in embryonic development and neurogenesis.
  • Decreasing CtBP2 levels in developing mouse brains disrupts neural stem and progenitor cell proliferation and migration.
  • Glial differentiation remains unchanged despite the reduction of CtBP2.
  • CtBP2 may play a critical role in maintaining the population and proper movement of neural stem and progenitor cells during cortical development.
