Corilagin may improve memory problems in Alzheimer's mice by lowering harmful protein build-up and boosting brain connections

Updated

Abstract

Corilagin improves learning and memory in APP/PS1 mice and reduces hippocampal neuron damage.

  • Corilagin is associated with reduced generation of amyloid-β by inhibiting BACE1 activity.
  • Enhanced synaptic plasticity and expression of synaptic-associated proteins were observed with corilagin treatment.
  • Neuronal loss was decreased in the hippocampus of corilagin-treated APP/PS1 mice.
  • Cognitive function improvements were assessed using step-through passive avoidance and Morris water maze tests.
