Combined molecular analysis reveals shared biological mechanisms in Crohn's disease and metabolic syndrome

Updated

Abstract

A total of 1,767 co-expressed genes were identified as common to Crohn's disease and metabolic syndrome.

  • The identified genes are enriched in pathways related to immune responses and metabolic regulation.
  • Out of the co-expressed genes, 34 key genes were highlighted for their potential use in prognostic models.
  • Key genes PIM2 and PBX2 showed strong expression in T and B cells, indicating their diagnostic potential.
  • PIM2 and PBX2 are associated with hypoxia and hemoglobin metabolism pathways, suggesting their role in cellular processes.
  • The findings may enhance the understanding of the comorbidity between Crohn's disease and metabolic syndrome.
