Computer study of Desmodium gangeticum compounds as dual regulators of MAO-B and 5-HT2A in Parkinson's disease

Updated

Abstract

Docking studies identified Desmodin and 5,7,2',4'-Tetrahydroxy-6-prenylisoflavanone as potential dual-target candidates for managing both motor and neuropsychiatric symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

  • Metabolites of Desmodium gangeticum may alleviate motor symptoms while addressing psychosis.
  • N, N-Dimethyltryptamine and Tryptamine are indicated as strong modulators of the 5-HT2A receptor.
  • In silico profiling showed promising drug-like properties, including adequate blood-brain barrier penetration.
  • Toxicity predictions suggest non-toxicity towards liver damage, mutations, and cancer.
  • Molecular dynamics studies indicated strong interactions between phytochemicals and target receptors.
