Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) exposure exacerbated amyloid-beta-induced toxicity in Alzheimer's disease models.

  • DEHP exposure is associated with increased amyloid-beta deposition in AD models.
  • Lysosomal dysfunction was observed, marked by a significant decrease in lysosome number.
  • The accumulation of a specific protein linked to autophagy was increased, suggesting impaired cellular cleanup processes.
  • Expression of a key transcription factor involved in lysosomal development was reduced by DEHP.
  • Elevated oxidative stress was noted, which may contribute to lysosomal dysfunction and autophagy impairment.
