Link between gut-friendly diet, early death, and overall death risk: The role of biological aging

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Higher DI-GM scores were linked to lower premature and all-cause mortality, with biological age explaining part of the association.

Evidence

A longitudinal NHANES analysis of 15,810 participants linked 2007-2018 diet data to 2019 mortality, finding each DI-GM point associated with 9% fewer premature deaths and 10% lower all-cause mortality.

Caveat

Because this was observational with derived diet and biological-age measures, the mediation analysis cannot establish that DI-GM slows aging or prevents death.
