Mineral Intake and Health Outcomes in Adults with Long COVID: Global and Sex-Specific Links

Updated

Abstract

In a study of 290 participants, no robust associations were found between dietary mineral density and clinical outcomes related to long COVID.

  • Bivariate correlations between dietary mineral densities and clinical outcomes were weak, with none surviving adjustment for multiple comparisons.
  • Higher densities of iron and zinc were nominally associated with lower depressive symptoms, particularly in women.
  • The associations identified are exploratory and require further investigation to confirm their validity.
