Vitamin Intake and Thinking Skills in Adults with Long COVID

Updated

Abstract

No significant associations were found between habitual dietary vitamin intake and global cognitive performance in adults with Long COVID.

  • Median scores for cognitive assessments were 24.00 for the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and 11.00 for the Memory Index Score (MIS).
  • Most participants (95.1%) met the dietary reference value for vitamin B3.
  • Higher vitamin B3 intake was associated with improved language performance on the MoCA in a fully adjusted model.
  • No significant associations were found after correcting for false discovery rate regarding everyday cognitive complaints or cognitive fatigue.
  • The association between vitamin B3 and language performance requires further verification and does not imply cognitive benefits from increased intake.
