Abstract
Stroke lesion size was substantially larger among animals housed in dim light at night compared to those in dark conditions.
- Exposure to dim light at night may impair recovery from stroke in mice.
- Mice in dim light exhibited increased anxiety-like behavior following stroke.
- Dim light at night is associated with amplified pro-inflammatory responses in the central nervous system.
- The findings suggest that light exposure at night could have negative effects on post-stroke physiological processes.
