Dingxin Recipe III may reduce blood vessel cell aging in atherosclerosis by activating a protective cell cleanup pathway

Updated

Abstract

Dingxin Recipe III (DXRIII) significantly improved plaque pathology in atherosclerosis mice and reduced endothelial cell aging.

  • DXRIII attenuated endothelial cell senescence and reduced pro-inflammatory factors.
  • It mitigated oxidative stress and mitochondrial damage in treated models.
  • The formulation activated mitophagy through the PINK1/Parkin pathway and increased FOXO3a expression.
  • Inhibition of mitophagy or silencing FOXO3a blocked the anti-senescence effects of DXRIII.
  • Key active ingredients in DXRIII, such as berberine and quercetin, demonstrated strong binding affinity to FOXO3a.
