Development and lab testing of domperidone-loaded solid and structured lipid nanoparticles

Updated

Abstract

The optimized solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) and nanostructured lipid carriers (NLC) for domperidone (DOM) achieved entrapment efficiencies of 87.84% and 90.49%, respectively.

  • The mean particle size for SLN and NLC was found to be 30.45 nm and 32.23 nm, respectively.
  • Polydispersity index (PDI) values were 0.156 for SLN and 0.160 for NLC, indicating low variability in particle size.
  • Zeta potential measurements indicated surface charges of 12.40 mV for SLN and 10.47 mV for NLC.
  • In vitro drug release studies showed both formulations demonstrated controlled release over 24 hours.
  • No significant changes were observed in particle size, zeta potential, PDI, and entrapment efficiency over a 40-day stability study.
