Testing an early online treatment for sleep problems during the COVID-19 pandemic

Updated

Abstract

A minimum sample size of 60 participants is planned to test an online intervention aimed at reducing insomnia severity in individuals experiencing sleep problems.

  • The intervention may reduce insomnia severity in poor sleepers compared to both wait-list controls and good sleepers.
  • Subjective symptoms of anxiety and depression could decrease in all participant groups after the intervention.
  • The intervention is designed to prevent the transition to acute insomnia among good sleepers.
  • Insomnia severity will be assessed at baseline and at one week, one month, and three months post-intervention.
  • Secondary measures will include mood evaluations and subjective sleep continuity derived from sleep diaries.
