Early puberty linked to egg supply and aging signs in young adults

Updated

Abstract

Women with early menarche (<12 years) showed 15.5% lower anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels compared to those with normal menarche (12-13.5 years).

  • Lower AMH levels were observed in women with early menarche.
  • Antral follicle count (AFC) was also reduced by 6.2% in this group.
  • Higher levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and estradiol (E2) were found in women with early menarche.
  • Biological age estimated by the Klemera-Doubal method showed an acceleration of 0.75 years in early menarche participants.
  • These associations account for only 1.4%-4.1% of the variance in ovarian reserve and biological aging outcomes.
