Designing mRNA lipid nanoparticle cancer vaccines that adapt to age by changing overall gene activity

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Age-related loss of systemic mRNA expression may weaken LNP cancer vaccine responses, while a revised LNP formulation restored antitumor efficacy in aged mice.

Evidence

This was a preclinical mouse formulation study using SM-102 mRNA LNPs, transcriptomic profiling, immune-response measures, and tumor-control testing across aged and younger hosts.

Caveat

The evidence is limited to mouse models and engineered LNP comparisons, so it does not establish clinical efficacy or safety in older cancer patients.
