Fifteen-year epigenetic aging trajectories are examined for their association with brain health outcomes in midlife.

  • Accelerated biological aging, as measured by DNA methylation clocks, may relate to cognitive decline.
  • Higher levels of DNA methylation are associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer disease and other dementias.
  • Most previous research has focused on single-time-point assessments rather than changes over time.
