Exercise reduces age-related thinking decline by lowering inflammation caused by TMAO

Updated

Abstract

Essence

In preclinical aging models, exercise improved cognitive test performance and dampened TMAO-linked neuroinflammation.

Evidence

Preclinical D-galactose rat and HT22 cell experiments tested exercise, TMAO, and DMB interventions against maze/NOR performance, plasma TMAO, and TXNIP-NLRP3 pathway markers.

Caveat

The mechanism is inferred from induced rat and cell models, with no human evidence for natural age-related cognitive decline.
