Lipid Nanoparticles Designed Like Exosomes for Better Tissue Penetration

Updated

Abstract

ELVs exhibited a more than 33 times increase in effective diffusion within model extracellular matrix compared to conventional lipid nanoparticles.

  • Exosome-like vesicles (ELVs) were designed to mimic the transport capabilities of natural exosomes.
  • Three components—anionic lipid, cholesterol, and aquaporin-1—were integrated into ELVs to enhance diffusion.
  • ELVs demonstrated an 80% increase in effective diffusion coefficient in biological tissues.
  • Intratumoral injection of ELVs confirmed their superior transport behavior in a biological environment.
